Denmark - Where the Forest Meets the Sea

Denmark Adventure Race

Join us for a challenging 2 day adventure through the simply stunning localities of Denmark and Walpole as the renowned Denmark Adventure Race – Explores the Great Southern on October 9th and 10th 2010.

This is a challenging but oh so rewarding adventure race through skyscraper karri trees, along picturesque sandy beaches, around mighty granite boulders and across turquoise waters – all amidst the camaraderie and mateship of people who love getting out there and giving anything a go.

Race format includes:
• Teams of 4 people (single gender or mixed) with only 3 people on the course at any one time
• Disciplines include: river and ocean paddling; ropes activities; trekking / running; mountain biking; all navigational. No single leg will be too epic (that does not mean it will be easy!).
• Each stage will provide 1–3hrs of non-stop action before you change to the next discipline.
• Expect to race for 10-15hrs on day one, grab a bit of sleep overnight then get back into it for another 7-12hrs on day two.
• The course is kept secret from competitors until the night before and teams navigate from one checkpoint to the next using maps and compasses.
• Designed for beginner / intermediate level athletes who want to try their first longer adventure race.

The Denmark Adventure Race – Explores the Great Southern was first held in the Albany area in 2008 and attracted a capacity field of 50 teams who braved the challenging course and rugged weather to emerge as heroes at the end of the day. In 2009 the event moved to the Denmark area and attracted 39 teams who were elated with the scenic course and achievable adventures put forward as part of the course.

In 2010 the event moves slightly further west and will explore a new course in the Walpole and Denmark regions where untold adventures involving bikes, kayaks, running shoes, ropes, maps and compasses will very much be the order of the day.
