Taste Great Southern - Denmark 'Sip & Sea' Weekend

Friday Picturesque Denmark plays host to this weekend’s getaway and provides the base for an amazing weekend, celebrating the regions outstanding wines and local produce. Take an early mark from work and jump aboard the Rex flight to Albany, collect your hire car and head west to Denmark. It all kicks off with an evening of fun at the Rockcliffe Night Market at Rockcliffe Winery. Join local food producers selling directly to the public with local artisans and a fabulous variety of performing artists. Celebrity chefs Justine Schofiled & Anna Gare will be cooking live on stage. It’s an event not to be missed and a fantastic celebration of Denmark’s vibrant community. Denmark offers charming retreat- styled hosted accommodation, guest houses and luxury chalets.
Saturday Mornings in Denmark start with great coffee. Quaint cafes catering for all tastes can be found within a short walk of each other between Strickland St and Mt Shadforth Road. One of the most popular venues is the Award winning Mrs Jones café. Mrs Jones is ‘fresh, fun and flirtatious!’ You’ll need a hearty breakfast to explore Denmark’s wineries today. In recent years, Denmark's wine has taken Australia's wine shows by storm with exceptional riesling, chardonnay, shiraz, cabernet and pinot noir. Drop into the Denmark Visitor Centre to collect your Denmark Food & Wine Trail map and start exploring.
Sunday Today is all about the Amazing South Coast & the incredible seafood of the region. Denmark is blessed with a pristine coastline on the edge of stunning forests and is the gateway to one of Western Australia’s most photographed beaches, Greens Pool, a pristine stop en-route to Albany. Our feature festival event today is ‘In The Raw’* at Emu Point Boat Harbour. Taste the bounty of the Southern Ocean including a welcome glass of sparkling and a freshly shucked oyster, followed by seafood tasting plates and paired wines – simply scrumptious!
Monday Time to head home today, but still time to visit one last icon. The Tree Top Walk is located between Denmark and Walpole. Experience the excitement of walking 40 metres high through the canopy of the tingle forest and enjoy the majestic views to stunning wilderness areas of The Amazing South Coast. Nothing like ending your Denmark weekend on a high! Return your hire car to Albany airport to meet your afternoon flight home.
